AvL Technologies

This $9 million combination of offices and manufacturing space has proven to be perfect third step for this amazing private high-tech company.  AvL Technologies started in the Asheville river arts district, and after quickly outgrowing that space they renovated the old Food Lion strip mall in Woodfin, NC.  This second step in their growth as a company was quickly followed by a more ambitious project directly across the street, again by Fisher Architects along with the same construction management team.  H&M entered into a Cost Plus with a GMP contract with AvL Technologies and fast-tracked this process by releasing three separate phases: a site-work phase, structural phase, and then the final phase including the remainder of the project.  This enabled H&M to proceed with the site work while focusing on the difficult task of designing and procuring the structural steel in order to meet the owner’s aggressive schedule.  This one-year schedule included the removal of 7500 CY of rock removal requiring extensive rock hammer and explosive use and allowed the owner to meet their business goals.
